Hello Mark Twain Families,
Thank you for visiting my page!
I am Ms. Boston and I am a Literacy Specialist here at Mark Twain Elementary School. I graduated from the University of Illinois at Urbana Champaign with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Elementary Education and a concentration in Mathematics in 2014. During my four years at the University of Illinois, I was a volunteer at multiple schools in the Champaign-Urbana area. I also had the opportunity to study abroad in Shanghai and Nanjing, China where I taught English to students in urban and rural areas. I spent my summers in college working as a camp counselor at a local YMCA.
I started working in East Maine School District 63 in August 2014. I began my career as a classroom teacher at Melzer Elementary School, teaching 3rd and 4th grade. I was a classroom teacher for 5 years before moving into my current role as a Literacy Specialist. Throughout my career in D63, I have received my English as a Second Language (ESL) endorsement, my Reading Recovery certification, and my Reading Specialist Degree.
My hometown is Mundelein, Illinois where I attended Santa Maria del Popolo grade school and Carmel Catholic High School. I have three siblings, including an older sister, an older brother, and a younger brother. I am a Green Bay Packers fan and my favorite food is pepperoni pizza. My favorite animal is a pug. If you visit my office, you will see pugs everywhere! I enjoy reading, working out, spending time with my family, trying new restaurants, and listening to country music! I also enjoy spending my time with my nephew Ryker (9 years old) and my niece Ryan (3 years old)!
I look forward to sharing my love for literacy with all Mark Twain families!
